Disney to End Netflix Partnership

Disney are to stop streaming on Netflix at the start of 2019. The end of this partnership is being made to pave the way for Disney to release their own streaming service. The new streaming service will become the new destination for Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm films.

An example of films you can expect to see on the streaming service will include currently released titles such as Avengers, Star Wars, Moana, to name a few. It will also look to be the platform for new films coming in 2019, such as Toy Story 4 and the live action remake of The Lion King.

The partnership was originally announced back in 2012 and films have been streamed on Netflix since 2016. With The Defenders just around the corner, it is reported that this move is unlikely to affect the Marvel and Netflix original content. Though as things develop and as The Defenders marks the end of the original story arc, this may change going forward.
